Museum Exhibit Update: Historic Spanish Point Case Study

A museum exhibit update is usually necessary because technology is constantly changing and in many cases a better way of presenting information arises. The learning styles and interests of the museum audience is also changing as generations of digital natives come of age. In order to capture these audiences who are raised in electronics, museums must stay abreast of the current trends in the industry. This is one of the reasons that the Windows of the Past Exhibit at Historic Spanish Point needed a refresh, and they chose ADM Two for the job.

Before museum exhibit update – drab, uninteresting lighting and materials.

Before the update – audio visual mess in the corner, outdated graphics with unflattering lighting.

This museum exhibit update included a new audio/visual system for a cleaner, more modern setup. We also noticed that many design and lighting elements needed updating. The existing carpet flooring was unflattering and needed refreshed – we added beautiful medium-colored, wide-paneled wood flooring for a classic, natural feel. New wood benches to match the museum cases that we built added some much needed seating to the exhibit. Finally, the new museum cases brightened up the exhibit. To add to the brightness, we switched to LED lighting, which created warm yet subtle glow to the overall exhibit. Spot lighting highlighted the individual panels, and the final touch was designing new graphics to go along with the new museum cases. The whole museum exhibit update took off without a hitch, and we had the opportunity to learn about a nearby Florida landmark.

After the update – textured lighting that highlights the graphics, seating for comfort, clean lines and a warmer atmosphere.

Historic Spanish Point – Prehistory

Historic Spanish Point is a fascinating place. Located on the Gulf Coast in Osprey, Florida, it is one of the largest intact actively preserved archaeological sites of the prehistoric period on the Gulf Coast. Its archaeological record encompasses approximately 5,000 years of Florida prehistory. During this period, people living in this area gradually made the transition from nomadic hunters to settled subsistent societies. The abundant resources provided by the coastal habitat fostered this change, and use of tools further established both permanent and seasonal settlements in the area.

The site may be one of the oldest and largest ceremonial shell ring middens in the southeastern United States. A midden is an archaeological term for a dump for domestic waste that contains products relating to day-to-day human life. They may contain animal bone, shell, botanical materials, potsherds, debitage (left over pieces from making stone flake points) and other artifacts.

The Historic Spanish Point exhibit is full of truly compelling information and artifacts, and should be on any visitors’ list to Florida. Certainly native Floridians who live close by should add it to their list of local treasures. More information can be found at historicspanishpoint.org.

Museum Display Cases: Mound House Case Study

Museum display cases are usually a fairly straightforward project for us, but the casework for Mound House in Estero Island, FL, was the type of project that required a good bit of creative critical thinking. Our team often faces challenges; that is when the ADM Two staff really shines. We excel at problem solving and on-the-fly solutions, so we are always up for a project that requires a bit more thought.

museum display cases

Building museum display cases around the existing graphics was our challenge.

The graphics for the exhibit were already in place, so we had to create museum display cases based around the existing layout of those graphics. This made our customization a bit trickier than usual. The factor that made the job really unusual was the fact that the Mound House is a historical building, so the very old structure is not level. We had to take this element into account in our measurements and planning. The final exhibit ended up looking great, and we had another happy client.

Award Winning Trade Show Booth for Helios – Giving Thanks

Creating an award winning trade show booth design is no one man job – it takes team work and collaboration. Our collaboration with client Helios has yielded not one but TWO award winning trade show booths. This is something special – there is a sort of magic in teamwork that is so consistently good. We want to give thanks to Helios – we couldn’t have done it without them. Their ideas combined with our ideas and lots of excellent craftsmanship from our staff produced two incredible trade show booths.

ADDY Award Winning Trade Show Booth

Our first award with Helios was a silver ADDY at the American Advertising Federation Awards held by local Tampa Bay chapter February, 2015. The trade show booth was custom designed and fabricated by ADM Two in preparation for Helios to participate in the 2014 National Workers’ Compensation & Disability Conference in Las Vegas.

“Our goal was to create a contemporary and clean, yet inviting environment for our 600-square foot space at the 2014 National Workers’ Compensation & Disability Conference,” stated Sarah Berger, VP of Marketing for Helios. “ADM Two collaborated with us to meet our visual and functional objectives and help us realize this vision.”

To achieve the look and feel the client wanted, ADM Two incorporated two vertical towers that provide height along with a feature canopy that spanned the booth space in Helios orange. The space features a welcome area, casual white seating, a private meeting room for quiet one-on-one discussions, and a rollable wood floor to finish the sustainable and inviting look Helios wanted in order to stand out at the show. The result is a truly stunning visual display that is also very functional. It was a perfect fit for the client, and that is what we strive to achieve with every trade show booth we create.

“We understand that companies are on strict budgets but still need to make an impact at trade shows,” said Shannon Bennett, ADM Two’s vice president of sales and marketing. “By repurposing existing components, refreshing them with new treatments, selecting cost-efficient finishes, and keeping the design simple, we were able to produce the Helios trade show booth for half of the industry’s standard square foot price. While we are proud to win the ADDY, we are more pleased that our design worked for our client.”

Best in Show

Winning the ADDY and creating a beautiful trade show booth at a great price set the stage for the next collaboration, which was a custom trade show booth for Helios’ participation at RIMS in New Orleans. The booth we created won Best of Show and appeared in the trade show publication.

This award winning trade show booth featured many of the same elements that allowed Helios to stand out at the National Workers’ Compensation & Disability Conference. The wood, the comfortable seating – all conveying the warmth of a home away from home – creates an atmosphere that is welcoming. Small details like table art and potted plants make a world of difference. It’s the little things that make a home.

Custom Trade Show Fabrication Case Study – South African Department of Trade

Our recent project, completing the custom trade show fabrication for the South African Department of Trade, highlights many of our strengths as a team. One of our partners, Mobius Exhibits, came to us with the RFP for the project. The ADM Two design team came up with the overall design based on the written RFP. It required at least eight individual kiosks within the space, a reception area, a conference room, and a lounge. It was a big project, but ADM Two excels in creative problem solving, and this was definitely a challenging project that would require a great deal of creativity.

Mobius Exhibits came to Tony Ricci, our Senior Account Executive and relationship-building master. Tony builds a rapport with clients and keeps in touch with them for life. People trust him, because he is not just an account executive, he is an ally; he cares about their business as if it were his own. Mobius Exhibits is one of his well-regarded industry contacts, and they knew they could trust Tony and ADM Two to create something that would wow the client.

Rendering for the custom trade show fabrication for the South African Department of Trade.

One of the most challenging factors for the South African Department of Trade custom trade show fabrication was time. This was going to be a big build, and our team knew that the typical time for completion of a project this size is around four to five weeks. On top of that, the time zone difference between South Africa and Florida is drastic and caused delays in communication and review. Despite these challenges, ADM Two completed the project in less than two weeks, including the management of the supplied graphics and content. We have the ability to prioritize in this way because we give personal attention to each and every project. If we know that a project has a tight deadline, our team collaborates to make it happen. Teamwork is essential during these tight deadlines, and because our team is like a family, we are able to communicate and work together to make the most of our time and skills. It is one of our greatest strengths.

In order to accomplish this incredibly tight deadline, we knew we had to save time on the fabrication. We decided to use some of our existing rental inventory for the reception area and conference room. The custom trade show fabrication came into play with the kiosks. We custom built them to fit the specs of the project and to create that unique feel that gives custom trade show fabrication its curb appeal. The custom pieces will remain in the ADM Two rental inventory. Blending custom fabricated pieces and rental pieces is a great way to save time and money, while still accomplishing that custom feel.

This project also posed the challenge of limited artistic direction. Because of the time difference and often little direct communication, ADM Two had to use a great deal of intuition and industry experience to complete the design. Knowing what we know about this industry, the nuances of trade show traffic, attendee engagement, and other factors, we were able to create a design that suited the client almost perfectly. In the end, the customer was very happy with the result and the show, CAMEX, held in Dallas, TX, was a success.

Custom Trade Show Booth Case Study – Global Refining Group

When working with custom trade show clients, we encounter many different clients that span countless industries. This is what is so exciting about our work – we get to learn more about familiar companies and brands, and in some cases we learn about industries that we never even knew existed. Each of our clients has unique needs, so during the design and fabrication process, we are kept on our toes. Our custom trade show team assesses the client’s brand from every angle to determine design, functionality, and technology.

Global Refining Group

One of our recent projects was a custom trade show booth for Global Refining Group. They were attending the ARA Show in Charlotte and needed something to showcase their brand as an industry leader with cutting edge technology and processes. The custom trade show booth we helped Global Refining Group fabricate was just that – sleek and modern, with a technology edge. The simple lines, colors, and metal evoke technology, while the wood floors are down to earth, providing a balance that keeps visitors feeling grounded.

Technology mixes with earthy in this well-balanced custom trade show booth.

The clients were duly impressed with the trade show display, as were other trade show attendees.

“We received many compliments on the booth and in my opinion we were by far the best there!” said the client after the show was over.

That’s what we love to hear. We enjoyed collaborating to design the trade show booth and we enjoyed learning about what Global Refining Group does. We even learned some interesting facts along the way.

Global Refining Group is a catalytic converter recycling and processing company that serves clients worldwide. Their processing system is one of the most efficient in the world and they have spent years of research and millions of dollars on its development.

Have you ever hear of platinum group metals? These are the metals that are being recycled and processing by Global Refining Group. They are a family of six precious metallic elements clustered together on the periodic table. The six metals are ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum. These metals are resistant to wear and tarnish, chemical attack, possess excellent high-temperature characteristics and stable electrical properties, which makes them useful in a variety of applications. Corporate Environment Design – In Case You Missed It

Corporate environment design has become an area of fast growth for us as more and more companies are paying attention to workers’ needs, sustainability, comfort, and ever-advancing technology. Our favorite part is the design process, as we assess branding, graphics, layout, and work with the client to create a space that tells their story and serves their staff and customers. It is always fascinating to compare before and after photos – the drastic difference even a few updates make is incredible.

In our article, “Corporate Environment Design Benefits,” we discuss some of the elements such as furniture and even color, that can make a huge difference in a space. Clients are dazzled by the transformation a simple coat of paint can create.

Our article, “Custom Corporate Environment Case Study: Alumi-Guard,” we show the before and after photos – and every step in between – of the process of updating Alumi-Guard’s reception area. The space went from drab and boring to spectacular with just a few simple tweaks. This case study is proof that corporate environment design does not have to be complicated or expensive, but hiring professionals will make the process easier and more efficient.

Hybrid Trade Show Exhibit Design System Choices

It all starts with the trade show exhibit design system. You want to choose a system that showcases your graphics, keeps traffic moving, and meets your marketing goals. There are many different types, and the search for the perfect exhibit design system can be overwhelming. It is helpful to consult with an expert trade show booth manufacturer like ADM Two. We can help you navigate the different styles and recommend something that will meet your goals and wow your potential clients, all within your budget.

One of the most common terms in the world of trade show exhibit design systems is “hybrid.” The term hybrid refers to an exhibit design system that combines the simplicity/ease of a portable/modular system with the tailored feel of a custom exhibit design system.

“Trade show exhibit design systems have come a long way in the last 30 years – you can have so much more control over your design than you did in the past, and still have it be portable and easy to assemble,” says Shannon Bennett of trade show booth manufacturer ADM Two.

There are four main styles of hybrid exhibit design systems. Below you will find information on each one.

1. Sacagawea is the most affordable of the hybrid exhibit design systems. It packs in portable roto-molded case(s) and comes with optional counters, workstations, and headers. With Sacagawea, you can start with a 10′ x 10′ and expand to a 10′ x 20′ as your show schedule grows. All ADM Two Sacagawea Displays include “Knob-assisted Assembly,” numbered components, and reusable die-cut foam packaging.

2. Magellan hybrid exhibit design systems can be as simple or complex as you would like. Magellan designs feature vibrant fabric graphics, captivating shapes, and smart accessories. Every Magellan exhibit design system from ADM Two includes simple “Knob-assisted Assembly” for a quick setup, reusable die-cut foam for care-free packaging, and durable engineered aluminum frames.

3. Perfect 10 hybrid exhibit design systems are extraordinary. There’s nothing else like the Perfect 10 Portable Hybrid Display – they are easily recognizable and totally unforgettable. The Perfect 10 blends large fabric graphics, unmistakable curves, and portable setup into a stunning trade show exhibit. ADM Two Perfect 10 exhibit design systems assemble without tools and can be ordered in seven distinctive frame colors: red, blue, black, yellow, green, white and silver.

4. Visionary Designs exhibit design systems combine vibrant tension fabric graphics, durable aluminum extrusions, and elegant laminates into an unmistakable inline trade show exhibit. You have the freedom of unlimited design possibilities with ADM Two’s line of Visionary Designs Hybrid Displays.

Color Choice in Trade Show Graphics and Design

Just as trade show graphics are the foundation of a great trade show display, color is the foundation of great trade show graphics. Color evokes emotion, portrays personality, symbolizes temperature, and defines brands. The colors you choose for your trade show graphics will create the mood in your trade show display, so choose wisely. Hiring a graphic designer who specializes in trade show booth design is a smart idea – they will help you determine the perfect color palette to send your message out to trade show attendees, loud and clear.

The most powerful aspect of color is that it sends a nonverbal message. It can lead visitors through your trade show display, without them ever actually being told where to go. For example, red is the color of stop signs, fire trucks, and flashy sports cars. When we see the color red, we stop what we are doing and pay attention. Use red in trade show graphics to stop people in their tracks.

On the other hand, the color blue is a meditative, soothing color. When people see blue they tend to associate the color with trust and calm. Use blue in trade show graphics to evoke an intrinsic trustworthiness in your trade show display. Use a variety of other hues in your trade show booth design to create atmospheres of playfulness, longevity, wisdom, and even to impart the message that your company respects the environment.

Color is the first thing people see when encountering your trade show display, and it is something they are naturally drawn to. A well-planned color scheme will help you stand out in the crowd; this is especially important at trade shows, where you could be surrounded by hundreds of competitors.

Sky Golf uses black, white and natural wood to add an air of sophistication to their trade show graphics and booth.

Sky Golf uses black, white and natural wood to add an air of sophistication to their trade show graphics and booth.

The sky is the limit when choosing colors for your trade show graphics. Work with your graphic designer to choose the right colors for your trade show display space. This will depend on your own color preferences, the colors of your corporate logo, the overall marketing goals of your company, and even the location of the trade show. In order to maintain the integrity of your brand and speak to potential clients, your trade show booth design should seamlessly combine all of these factors.

Creating an exciting and engaging trade show display starts with great trade show graphics, but you can get as creative as you’d like with the rest of the design. Create An Exciting, Memorable Experience with Great Trade Show Booth Design

One of the most important aspects of attending a trade show is your trade show booth design. First impressions are lasting impressions, so you want to put your best foot forward at every show. Your trade show booth design should stand out from the crowd and it should meet your marketing goals. We have a team of experienced professionals who can assist with every aspect of trade show booth design. “We listen to our customers, and ask a lot of questions to make sure they are getting exactly what they want and need,” says Susan Canonico of ADM Two.

Remember that trade shows are sensory experiences for your potential clients and existing customers. You have many opportunities to create a memorable experience that connects with many senses, but beware of sensory overload. A memorable trade show booth design will connect with customers through several senses, without being overwhelming.

Visual

Great trade show graphics are hands-down the most important part of trade show booth design. Think of graphics as the foundation of your trade show display. Avoid clutter and make sure to update trade show graphics regularly. Err on the side of simple and deliver a clear, straight-forward message that defines your company, your product and your solution in a matter of seconds.

Video and motion trade show graphics are a great way to capture people’s attention. Make sure to hire a professional to create clean, high quality videos. Having poor quality video defeats the purpose and can cheapen your trade show display. If you can’t afford high quality video, it is better to have none at all. Remember that videos, just like trade show graphics, should be simple and deliver a clear message that complements the overall message of your trade show display.

Music

Playing music that matches your company’s personality is a great way to reach out to potential clients. Music activates a part of the brain associated with emotion, and there is no better way to truly connect with people than through emotion. Again, music should not be so loud that it overpowers your overall presentation.

Special Effects and Lighting

Create atmosphere and wow potential customers by adding dynamic lighting or sounds to your trade show booth design. If you have a flagship product, highlight it with a spotlight. If you are selling water softeners, play the pleasant sound of running water in the background. ADM Two can offer ideas and examples to enhance your trade show booth design with special effects.

Helios4

This is a perfect example of creating atmosphere with stunning lighting and visuals. Award-winning Helios trade show booth fabricated by ADM Two.

Mascot

Having a company mascot generates interest and helps you stand out from the crowd. Choose costumes and props wisely. You don’t want to be tacky, you want to be unique. If you stay focused on your message and goals, this can be a great way to draw more attention.

The key points to remember about trade show booth design are avoiding clutter and sensory overload, having a clear, straightforward goal that aligns with your overall marketing plan, and creating an engaging experience. If you follow these general guidelines, your trade show display will be worth every penny you invest. Have fun with it, and get some professionals involved! Your trade show booth will be the best in show.

The Nuts and Bolts of Trade Show Booth Design

One of the most important considerations when attending a trade show is your trade show booth design. A well-designed trade show display will draw people to your company, which means more potential for conversion to sales. We can assist with the selection of a portable or modular booth, or create a custom booth that reflects you and your brand. We also offer booth rentals for more flexibility and freedom. The four main styles of trade show booth design are outlined below serve as a general guide. Make sure to check the rules and regulations of each trade show you attend, as sizes vary for different locations.

Standard / Linear Trade Show Booth

This type of trade show booth shares a back wall with another booth. It shares borders with other booths on one or two sides. The maximum height usually allowed is 8’. The 8’ height must end 5’ from the front aisle, and the front side walls must not exceed 4’. If you have a corner trade show display, your trade show booth will be exposed to the aisle on both sides. Hanging trade show banners or signs are usually not allowed.

Perimeter Wall Trade Show Booth

This type of booth will be on the perimeter wall of the trade show floor. The maximum height for this trade show booth is 12’. The 12’ height must end 5’ from the front aisle, and the front side walls must not exceed 4’. Hanging trade show banners or signs are usually not allowed.

Peninsula Trade Show Booth

The Peninsula trade show booth is larger than 20’ x 20’, shares a back wall with another trade show display, and has aisles on three sides. The Peninsula trade show booth can be one of two styles – one will share a back wall with a Linear booth, and the other will share a back wall with another Peninsula booth. This is known as a “Split Island Trade Show Booth.” The exterior of the back wall must not have any company graphics, logos or identifying objects. It must be plain.

If the Peninsula trade show booth shares a back with a Linear booth, the back wall typically cannot be more than 4’ high for a distance of 5’ from the side aisles, and it may be 20’ high in the center of the back wall. If it shares a back wall with another Peninsula booth, the walls may be a maximum of 20’ on all sides, including the shared back wall. Hanging trade show banners or signs are usually allowed.

Island Trade Show Booth

The island trade show booth is any trade show display that is 20’x 20’ or larger and has aisles on all four sides. Regulations vary, but a standard example is a maximum height of 30’ in all areas of the trade show booth in North and Central Halls 3-5. A maximum of 20’ on all sides of your trade show booth for Central halls 1-2. A maximum height of 22’ on all sides of your booth for South Halls. You may have as many solid walls as you want. Make sure to check the regulations. Hanging trade show banners or signs are usually allowed.
